Prayer Request for Gene Stahl

Written by: Louie Vetter on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

We are asking for your prayers for Gene Stahl who had a very serious accident, and for his wife Evelyn and his family. Gene is the father of seven children: daughters Crystal, Carmen, Geena and Taya; and sons Travis, Cody, and Anthony. The manager of the beef operation at Deerfield Colony, near Lewistown, Montana; he is 38 years old; devout Christian, family man, and hard worker.

The colony runs 900+ range cows on Sage Creek, about 15 miles from the home place. Gene, an accomplished horseman, who has been riding since the age of three, was moving cows with his three son the morning of May 19 at Sage Creek.

The young horse that Gene was riding spooked, reared up, and came down backwards with the saddle-horn grinding into Gene’s hip area. The boys saw this and quickly called their mom on a cell phone as their dad lay unconscious. First responders and an ambulance was sent for, but they quickly saw that Mercy Flight was needed. The helicopter arrived within an hour and he was transported to St. Vincents Hospital in Billings. The doctors worked on him all afternoon and evening, trying to stop the open leg wound bleeding, giving blood transfusions, and stabilizing him.

He has a shattered pelvis and multiple broken bones, and is scheduled for surgery Tuesday afternoon.

May the Great Physician guide the surgeon’s hands and eyes.

When the first responders and other colony members arrived, his sons were kneeling beside their father praying, while Gene was singing: “O groser Gott vom Macht”
God give him strength for the upcoming days and also for his family, Lord we ask that your will be done, give us faith to continue to trust in You and Your ways

I wish you a speedy recovery and please remember to look for the bright side when things seem dark. You will soon be back in your place. A tree fell on my dad two years ago breaking his skull and leg. Today we planted 1/2 acre of carrots by hand and 5lbs of corn. His 60th birthday was 3 days ago.

I am the teacher here at Deerfield School. I have Gene and his family in my thoughts and prayers daily. I have taught almost all of his children here at the school. I am waiting for Taya to be in Kindergarten in a few years. They are a wonderful and strong family!

Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless our brother Gene and family. We ask you to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubting, release a renewed confidence in your ability to work through them. Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, we ask you to give them understanding, patience, and strength. We ask you to renew spiritual strength by revealing your nearness, and by drawing us into greater intimacy with you. Where there is sickness, pain, reveal your love, and release to them your courage. Bless his health, give him friends to support, and encourage him. We humbly ask you to do these things in Jesus’ name.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Although I don’t know anyone from Gene Stahl’s family or larger community where he resides, my thoughts and prayers are still ongoing.

Can we have an update as to how Gene is doing?

So sorry to hear about Gene and the troubles he and his family are going through. I do not know the family and I am not from that area of the country (I am from Texas), but a person is a person in need and this family certainly will be in my prayers. May God Bless You and Keep you safe and I Pray for a speedy recovery.

Gene had 7 hour surgery on Friday, May 25. His doctor pronounced the operation a success. The pelvis had 8 breaks and the doctor wants him to be in a wheelchair for 3 months and then progress to crutches. Gene is still in a lot of pain and is starting therapy. He will probably remain in the hospital for at least another week.
Gene usually does all the hay swathing for Deerfield and he is bound and determined to cut some hay yet this year. Maybe only third cut and maybe only a couple rounds but we hope he can attain his goal!
Thank you for your prayers and concern, we are so grateful to our Heavenly Father for his answer to our prayers.

their faith and trust in God’s mercy and love. May the comfort of friends and

Lois, that’s harsh. Even though I’m an atheist I find your comment uncalled for and in bad taste. Have a little respect for these people.

I pray every day for Mr. Stahl’s safe recovery. Injuries such as this take time to heal and an even longer time of discomfort, especially in Montana’s winters. I have experienced shattered bones in my legs and, therefore, comprehend what he and the family are going through.

I am what you refer to as “English.” I am decendent of immigrants from Czech immigrants, Irish, and French Canadian.

Gene came home from Billings Hospital on June 6th. His children were overjoyed to have him home again, and everybody on the colony shared the joy. There was a constant stream of visitors in and out!
He is confined to a wheelchair for the next 6 weeks and is under strict orders from the doctor not to try standing or putting any weight on his feet. The doctor told him now is the time to give the bones a chance to heal.
Gene and his family want to thank everyone for their prayers, encouraging words, and support. It will be a long, hard road back but with patience, fortitude and most of all God’s help all things are possible.

Dear Jesus,

Please help this man to recover from his injuries speedily. Help the nurses and doctors deliver the loving careful care you would intend for him, and keep and give peace to him while he recovers and his family until all is healed.
In Jesus Name,
Amen!

Our best wishes for your continued recovery, Gene. We just learned of your accident, and so, hope this prayer, two years after your accident, finds you already well and strong. When were children, my sister Heather and I (Jenny) spent many summers playing with Helen and Carol and Doris (and Gene and Tim and Clarence and Lillian. . . . . .) Last we spoke to Andy Hofer was soon after Linda passed. We would enjoy being in contact with Deerfield again!
As we pray for you and your family Gene, we fall into happy memories of chasing skunks, riding horses, warm spring creek, collecting and washing eggs, bringing in the ducks, milking cows, plucking geese, weeding the garden, kittens in the calf barn, when you had blue healer puppies, eating with you (and doing the dishes after). . . .
Each of these memories are treasures to us; as we re-live them now, we send you our best wishes for healing, happiness, and prosperity for your families.

My mother taught at the West Raley Colony near Cardston AB many years ago and I have many friends there still.

My heart went out for this family. I pray that they are well.

Bless his life. God you knew this would happen and we pray he will be healed and tell the world how great God is. He sent His Son to show Gods love for us but was put on the Cross. All the devil thought was His body……that is all outside that he see’s. The body but Jesus said “Father into your hands I give you my Spirit and His body died. Three days later God said “I’ll send back to earth as a High Priest to bring your Holy Blood and I’ll except your blood for the payment for All Sins of of man. All sins are paid in full. That is a credit He gave. Question is why would anyone not appreciate that? But very few say thanks. That payment is for everyone, how sad they saw Him in the upper room, ate with Him etc. They believed it was Jesus because they saw Him but were not Christians
To be a Christian Jesus after FOURTY days said to disiples I have to go to heaven so I can send you my Holy Spirit then you will be Christian, because my Spirit will be in you. Any things other than that you’re not a Christian….it’s wishful thinking. God bless and heal you Gene
