Nigeria 2008!
Hello, out of Africa to everyone in Canada and beyond! We are now the new “bloggers” of The Bridge, Brian and Leanne. Maybe we’ll get Ed Vetter and Judy to write something too! We have only been in Palmgrove for 6 days and my first blog will be about our flights and experiences on getting to this infamous place.
We left Crystal Spring on Wednesday 6th, 2008, heading for the Winnipeg Airport. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 12:00p....

Ok, this is the final post for this adventure. Paul Vetter and I will sit down one last time for a meal of Gari with Afang soup. You’ve been a wonderful audience! Thanks a lot for your comments, they made the blogs come more alive. Hopefully, I’ve been able to give everybody a better picture of what this place is all about. In the Jungle…

The contrast between the people living in the jungle and people living in the richer part of the cities is startling at times. After going through a rich part of the town and then going into the jungle to look at the mud huts, is like visiting another planet. For those of you who might someday travel to countries where malaria is a problem, you could consider taking wormwood, with a few drops of oil of oregano. Back home, they give you so many options to choose from that it’s rather confusing, but that’s what someone recommend to me and that’s all I’ve been using. A few times when I didn’t have all that much energy, the doctor did a blood test and every time he said that the malaria count was low. So it seems to work, for me anyway. Keeping Busy!

A few months ago, some of the guys started working on a sign for the community, to be put up at the junction. The old one had been torn down a few years before by vandals. I thought that they would never finish before we leave, but surprise, surprise a few weeks ago they finished it and put it up. They used roofing tiles as a roof, looks pretty good too might add!
