Hutterite History Overview

   
   

1. Luther and the Reformation
The Lutheran Church sparked the Reformation and many other new Churches were formed.

2. Birth of Anabaptism
The Anabaptist church started in Switzerland.

3. Persecution of Early Anabaptists
Anabaptism teachings spread, although the believers were persecuted.

4. Community of Goods
Community life started, and Jakob Hutter, the leader of the Hutterites, was born.

5. Death of Jakob Hutter
Jakob Hutter was captured and burned at the stake.

6. Leadership after Hutter
With Hutter’s death, new elders had to be elected.
